It is 2018. Hard to believe. Every year at this time, people make resolutions. Many of which…. they do not keep. I know it. I have done it. Or is that, I have not done it. You know what I mean.
The majority of these resolutions are focused on personal objectives. But have you set some work objectives as well? They don’t have to be big or lofty. They could be simple. Not sure of any?
Here are some that might be fun:
It is 2018. Hard to believe. Every year at this time, people make resolutions. Many of which…. they do not keep. I know it. I have done it. Or is that, I have not done it. You know what I mean.
The majority of these resolutions are focused on personal objectives. But have you set some Visual ERP objectives as well? They don’t have to be big or lofty. They could be simple. Not sure of any?
Here are some that might be fun:
- Reduce the time required to complete month-end with Visual ERP. How long does it take now? 2 days, 2 weeks? Start to monitor and see how you make out? Make it a game. Track it everyone month. Get your team involved. See what tasks take the most amount of time. Can they be automated or streamlined? Or can some tasks be eliminated?
- Learn how to use the query tool in Visual. The cool thing is starting with Visual 8, the query tool comes with the build-in data dictionary and script suggestions. This makes using it way easier.
- Spend a little time in different Visual windows and see if there are reports or functionality that you do not know. It is exciting when we find something we didn’t know about. Plus lots of time it can really help us. This might just make you look smarter to your bosses. And that never hurts.
- Create some financial reports using the report writer Wizard. If your Chart of Accounts is logically structured, you can create reports in a few of minutes.
- Watch someone else do their job. You might learn something new, gain a better appreciation for someone’s work or possibly come up with a way that could make their job easier. Or maybe your job easier.
- Learn how to use Excel Query tool linked into Visual ERP. You can create all kinds of queries and reports to get to the information faster. Once it is created you can refresh it and up to date Visual ERP data. One of the students from our Excel Query course created queries that have helped her reduce the month-end cycle by a day. Hey that could help with your #1 resolution.
- Go to an conference to learn more about Visual. There are local user’s groups, INFORUM on Sept. 24 – 27 in Washington, DC or Visual Focus on Oct. 21 -24 in Orlando, FL. Wow, there sure are a lot of options. I know every time I go to any event, I learn lots.
What will your New Year’s resolution be?
